Scope

Student Information System (SIS)

The Student Information System (SIS) determines what data Eventful can retrieve and process within Eventful SchoolSync (ESS).
In normal operations, ESS ingests information such as:

• Schools
• Staff
• Students
• Classes
• Courses
• Academic sessions

ESS can also merge SIS data with information from supporting systems such as Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.

Receiving Systems

Microsoft

For Microsoft 365, Microsoft School Data Sync (SDS) is used to:

• Create Teams for classes and courses
• Synchronize memberships for classes, courses, and schools

In addition to what SDS provides, Eventful SchoolSync can also:

• Create Staff Teams
• Generate security groups

Google

For Google environments, ESS can:

• Create Google Classrooms for classes and courses
• Create Google Groups based on SIS information

Other Receiving Systems

ESS can also provide data to other educational systems, depending on each system’s technical specification — for example Apple School Manager.

Limitations

The following are not included in Eventful’s commitment within the ESS service:

• Updates or backups of the customer‑provided server running ESS
• Changes in functionality caused by the design of the receiving system
  • (Example: In Microsoft SDS, teachers can rename teams and add or remove team members.)
• Support for other identity‑related synchronization systems, such as AD Connect or GCDS
